Midtown, New York Residence

“Clean Slate did an incredible job turning my outdated midtown studio apartment into an art deco showplace! Prompt, respectful, attentive, and price-conscious — a pleasure to work with.” —Leslie H.

Two original Erté prints in gorgeous Art Deco frames, part of our client’s art collection, were the inspiration behind the complete redesign of a pied-à-terre in Midtown, Manhattan. On the forty-sixth floor and with wraparound views of the city, this studio had all the bones for a stunning residence. As a solution for the 600-square-foot residence’s lack of space for a bedroom and living room we worked with a carpenter to build a custom king-size Murphy bed with exquisite detailed paneling. A hydraulic dining table that doubles as a cocktail table accommodates enjoying dinner at home and entertaining guests. When it came to selecting the color palette, furniture and art, we brought in all of the 1920’s glamour with scalloped wallpaper, mixed metals, dramatic black painted hardwood floors and rich velvets textiles. Take a look at the transformation below.
